A Storage or Wishlist change happens
PogoTrades queues match detection around the Pokemon identities that changed instead of periodically rescanning every trainer from scratch.
Match Alerts watch the same Storage and Wishlist data behind Smart Matches and create an alert when a collection change produces a new mutual trade opportunity or adds more mutually useful Pokemon to an existing one.
Match creation is driven by relevant Storage and Wishlist changes. Daily scheduling is used for digest email delivery, not for creating the underlying match.

How alerts are created
When relevant Pokemon are added to Storage or Wishlist, PogoTrades finds candidate trainers around those changed Pokemon and then verifies the full two-way Smart Match before an alert can exist.
PogoTrades queues match detection around the Pokemon identities that changed instead of periodically rescanning every trainer from scratch.
An alert needs a real mutual match: the other trainer has something from your Wishlist and you have something from theirs.
Alerts can be worldwide, limited to trainers in your country, or limited to one selected country.
New trainer pairs create a New mutual match alert. Existing pairs create a Match improved alert only when the number of mutually useful Pokemon grows.
PogoTrades compares the current Storage, Wishlist, blocks, and regional eligibility again before focusing the trainer in Smart Matches.
The trainer pair has a valid two-way Smart Match and there is no active alert for that pair in that direction.
An existing active match gains more mutually useful Pokemon across the two sides. The previous alert becomes stale and a fresh improved alert is created.
If identities, score, or quality change without increasing the total mutually useful Pokemon count, PogoTrades refreshes the existing alert instead of generating notification noise.
Live revalidation
Storage and Wishlists can change after an alert is created. When you open a Match Alert, PogoTrades recalculates the Smart Match and checks your current regional alert rules again.
The alert is marked read and Smart Matches opens focused on that trainer, with the alert source carried into the discovery flow.
PogoTrades marks the alert stale and sends you back to current Smart Matches rather than treating an outdated snapshot as tradable.
Regional alert scope
A mutual Smart Match can exist while only one side receives an alert, because each trainer controls their own Match Alert geography.
Allow eligible mutual matches from any trainer country.
Only create alerts for trainers whose country matches your profile country.
Only create alerts for trainers in one country you choose.
Changing your country or narrowing Match Alert region preferences can revalidate and stale alerts that no longer qualify.

Email delivery is optional and separate from the in-app alert system. Trainers can choose immediate emails or a daily summary and independently control whether improved matches are included in email.
In-app Match Alerts stay on. The bell shows recent active alerts and the Match Alerts page keeps the latest active alert history.
Verified-email users can receive an individual email when an eligible counterpart creates a new match. Improved-match emails can be enabled or disabled separately.
Daily frequency groups recent undelivered new and optionally improved matches into one email instead of sending each one separately.
Immediate delivery requires a verified email, enabled email alerts, and Immediate frequency. PogoTrades does not immediately email the same trainer whose collection change triggered the alert, and can defer email while that trainer is recently active on the site.
The digest collects recent non-stale alerts that have not already been emailed. It considers up to 25 recent alerts, previews up to five matches in the email, and notes when more are waiting.
Match Alerts FAQ
A Match Alert is an in-app record created when PogoTrades detects a new mutual Smart Match or a meaningful improvement to an existing mutual match.
A new match is created when two trainers have a live mutual trade opportunity and there is no current active Match Alert for that trainer pair in that direction.
An existing trainer match becomes an improved Match Alert when the total number of mutually useful Pokemon across both sides increases. A percentage-score change by itself does not create an improved alert.
PogoTrades refreshes the current alert fingerprint, score, quality, and snapshot without creating another notification when the underlying match changes but the total mutually useful Pokemon count does not increase.
The active alert becomes stale. Stale alerts are removed from the active Match Alerts experience and are not treated as current opportunities.
The alert stores a snapshot for context, but opening it rechecks the current Smart Match and regional eligibility. If the match is no longer valid, PogoTrades marks the alert stale instead of presenting it as current.
Yes. Match Alert preferences support worldwide alerts, only trainers in your own country, or one selected country. Same-country alerts require a country on your PogoTrades profile.
Current Match Alert settings keep in-app alerts on. Email delivery can be enabled or disabled separately and set to immediate or daily.
Yes. PogoTrades has a separate Match improved email preference, so new-match email delivery can remain enabled while improved-match emails are disabled.
The immediate-email job does not send the alert back to the same trainer whose collection change triggered that alert. The in-app alert can still be created.
PogoTrades can defer the individual email while it detects recent site activity, reducing unnecessary email interruption when you are already active on the platform.
Smart Matches is the live discovery system. Match Alerts remember meaningful changes and bring you back to the current live match when there is something new to review.
