Keep every otherwise eligible trainer regardless of country.
Regional Trade Finder adds country, trade-location preference, recent activity, collector traits, and reliability context to both automatic Smart Matches and manual public trade-list discovery.
Regional Trade Finder is country-level. It does not use GPS, precise location, city radius, or distance from you.

Flexible trainers qualify for both Remote-friendly and In-person friendly filters.
Two discovery paths
The same country and trader-context model is useful in two different ways. Smart Matches starts with compatibility between both trainers; Explore Trades starts with public community listings.
Start from real two-way Wishlist/Storage compatibility, then narrow the resulting mutual matches by country, trade preference, activity, collector traits, or reliability.
Open Smart MatchesBrowse public trade lists manually by region and list contents. A public list does not need to be a mutual match for you to discover it.

Keep every otherwise eligible trainer regardless of country.
Require both trainers to have valid profile countries and keep only trainers whose country matches yours.
Require both trainers to have valid profile countries and keep only trainers whose country differs from yours.
Keep trainers in one country you choose. This works independently of your own country.
Why profile country matters
My country and Other countries depend on your own profile country. If your profile does not have a valid country, those relative scopes cannot establish whether another trainer is local or foreign. Specific country does not have that dependency.
Trainer context
Includes trainers whose profile preference is Remote or Flexible. It does not mean a Remote Trade is currently eligible in Pokemon GO.
Includes trainers whose profile preference is In-person or Flexible.
Means the trainer has PogoTrades activity recorded within the last 7 days.
Filter for matched or listed Pokemon with shiny, costume, or background traits and search names, forms, costumes, overrides, or backgrounds.
Smart Match score first, then mutual depth.
Trader Reputation score, completed trades, then Smart Match score.
Latest trainer activity first, then Smart Match score.
Same-country trainers first, then Smart Match score.
Most recently updated public trade lists first.
Trader Reputation score, completed trades, then list update time.
Latest trainer activity first, then list update time.
Same-country trainers first, then list update time.
Smart Matches applies shiny, costume, background, and text filters to the Pokemon identities already proven mutually useful. Explore Trades applies them to public list contents and can first choose whether to search the offering side, wanted side, or both.
Match Alert geography uses the same country model but does not simply inherit whatever filters you happened to use on Smart Matches. Each trainer independently chooses the countries allowed to create alerts for them.
Allow otherwise eligible matches from any trainer country.
Require the candidate country to match your profile country.
Allow only candidates from the country saved in your Match Alert preference.
Narrowing Match Alert region preferences can stale alerts that no longer qualify. If a trainer changes country, existing same-country alerts can also be rechecked against the new country relationship.
How Match Alerts workRegional Trade Finder FAQ
Regional Trade Finder is the country-level discovery layer used across Smart Matches and Explore Trades. It lets trainers narrow mutual matches or public trade lists by country, trade-location preference, recent activity, collector traits, and sorting choices.
No. The current Regional Trade Finder is country-level. It uses the country saved on PogoTrades profiles, not GPS, precise location, city radius, or physical distance.
Both your profile and the candidate trainer need valid country codes. The trainer is included only when the two profile countries are the same.
Both trainers need valid profile countries. The candidate is included only when their country differs from yours.
Yes. Specific country filtering checks the candidate trainer against the country you selected and does not require that country to match your own.
Remote-friendly includes trainers who selected Remote or Flexible as their PogoTrades trade-location preference. It is not a statement that Pokemon GO currently allows the specific Remote Trade.
In-person filtering includes trainers whose PogoTrades preference is In-person or Flexible.
The current regional discovery system treats a trainer as recently active when their last PogoTrades activity is within the previous seven days.
Smart Matches requires two-way Wishlist and Storage compatibility before regional filters are applied. Explore Trades filters public trade lists directly, so a list can appear even when it is not a mutual Smart Match for you.
Yes. Explore Trades can search any list content, only the offering Storage side, or only the wanted Wishlist side before applying text and collector-trait filters.
They use the same country model but are separate preferences. Match Alerts can be worldwide, same-country, or one selected country. Each recipient controls their own alert geography independently.
PogoTrades revalidates active alerts. Alerts that no longer satisfy your new regional preference can be marked stale. Country changes can also revalidate same-country alerts.
Use Smart Matches when you want automatic two-way compatibility. Use Explore Trades when you want to browse public lists in a country or by collector trait even before mutual compatibility exists.
