Trade Proposals record what each trainer is offering and requesting, support acceptance, decline, cancellation, and counteroffers, then keep completion separate until both participants confirm the actual in-game exchange.
PogoTrades records trainer-selected proposal details and bilateral completion confirmations. It does not execute or independently verify the trade through Pokémon GO.

Structured agreement
A proposer chooses at least one Pokemon from their own Storage and at least one Pokemon from the other participant's Storage. PogoTrades then stores those selected Pokemon inside the proposal, together with optional notes and the Special Trade flag.

Selected from the other trainer's PogoTrades Storage.
Stored proposal data preserves the selected identity and details such as shiny/background context when present.
Optional notes and a user-selected Special Trade flag can travel with the proposal.
Proposal state machine
The recipient controls Accept, Decline, and Counteroffer. The proposer controls Cancel. Once a proposal leaves Pending, that specific proposal cannot be responded to again as though it were still open.
The proposal records the selected Pokemon and is waiting for the recipient to respond.
Recipient can Accept, Decline, or Counteroffer. Proposer can Cancel.
The recipient accepted the proposal. The agreement is now eligible for Trade Journey and completion confirmation.
Both trainers continue coordination; neither side can rewrite this accepted proposal.
The recipient rejected the pending proposal.
The conversation can continue and a different proposal can be created later.
The proposer withdrew their own pending proposal.
Only the proposer can cancel while the proposal is still pending.
The recipient responded with a replacement proposal. The original is retained as Countered.
The counteroffer is a new Pending proposal linked back to the proposal it superseded.
Both participants independently confirmed that the agreed in-game trade happened.
The trade can now count in completed-trade systems such as Trader Reputation and the Trade Leaderboard.
A counteroffer is not an edit that silently replaces history. When the recipient counters a Pending proposal, PogoTrades marks the old proposal Countered and creates a new Pending proposal linked to the one it superseded.

Bilateral completion
This separation is deliberate. A trainer can agree to a trade long before the actual Pokémon GO exchange occurs. PogoTrades keeps the proposal Accepted until both participants independently say the in-game trade happened.
Acceptance records agreement. It does not count the trade as completed.
Use messaging and, when needed, Trade Journey to track preparation before the Pokémon GO trade happens.
The proposal stays Accepted and records that participant’s completion timestamp. PogoTrades waits for the other side.
Only now does the proposal change to Completed and receive its completed timestamp.
PogoTrades records that participant's timestamp and tells the conversation it is waiting for the other trainer. The proposal itself remains Accepted.
PogoTrades changes the proposal to Completed, records completed_at, and marks the conversation completed.
Once accepted, the same proposal can anchor Trade Journey coordination for Friendship progress, Remote Trade preparation, reminders, readiness, and shared notes.
How Trade Journey worksCompleted status is the boundary used by PogoTrades for completed-trade counts. Bilaterally completed trades can feed Trader Reputation, the public Trade Leaderboard, and post-trade Smooth Trade Endorsements.
PogoTrades knows what its own users selected and confirmed. It does not inspect either Pokémon GO account to prove the exchange happened.
After bilateral completion, either participant can optionally endorse the counterpart for a smooth trade. The endorsement is separate from the numerical Reputation Score.
Proposal creation, responses, and completion confirmations create conversation events so both participants can see what changed.
Trade Proposals FAQ
A Trade Proposal is a structured record inside a direct trainer conversation that captures which Pokemon the proposer is offering, which Pokemon they are requesting from the other trainer, and optional trade notes or a Special Trade flag.
The proposer selects Pokemon from their own PogoTrades Storage as the offered side and selects Pokemon from the other participant’s Storage as the requested side.
Yes. The proposal stores a snapshot of the selected Pokemon data, including attributes such as shiny status and the selected background when present, so the agreement is not only a live pointer to a later-changing Storage list.
Only the recipient of a Pending proposal can accept or decline it. The proposer cannot accept their own proposal.
Only the proposer can cancel their own proposal, and only while it is still Pending.
Only the recipient of a Pending proposal can counter it. PogoTrades marks the original proposal Countered and creates a new Pending proposal whose supersedes link points back to the original.
No. Acceptance only records that both trainers agreed to the proposal. The actual Pokemon GO exchange still needs to happen, and completion is recorded separately.
Trade Journey begins from an Accepted Trade Proposal. It can then track trade mode, Friendship progress, Remote Trade preparation, reminders, readiness, and shared coordination notes.
Each participant has their own completion confirmation. The first confirmation leaves the proposal Accepted and records only that trainer’s timestamp. The proposal becomes Completed only after the second participant also confirms.
PogoTrades treats a repeated confirmation from the same participant as already recorded rather than adding another confirmation or another completion message.
No. Bilateral completion means both PogoTrades participants independently confirmed the exchange. PogoTrades does not connect to either trainer’s Pokémon GO account and does not verify the trade through Niantic.
The proposal receives Completed status and a completion timestamp, the conversation is marked completed, the trade can count toward completed-trade reputation and leaderboard totals, and each participant can optionally give the other a Smooth Trade Endorsement.
Use a Trade Proposal when both sides need one clear record of the intended exchange, then let each participant confirm completion only after the Pokémon GO trade has actually happened.
